This year we took Emma to the Hendricks county 4-H fair and also to the State Fair and I believe that she had a really good time at both.
At the Hendricks Fair we took the time to walk through some of the exhibit hall and also the animal barns. Unfortunately it was really hot outside the night we went so we did not stay all that long. While we were looking at the Sheep there were several 4-Hers sheering their sheep to show the next day. One of the adults was kind enough to let Emma pet the sheep they were working on. After that he also let her go inside a couple of the other pens and pet some that had not been sheered yet.
Also in the small animal barn they had an incubator with chicken eggs in it and then a warmer with newborn chicks. One of the chicks was just starting to break through the shell while we were there. We did not stay until it was completely out but Emma enjoyed seeing what was going on.
Vince was with us when we went to the State Fair and wanted to check out the shooting sports display. He helps judge in Dubois County along with teaching the kids and wanted to see how the Dubois kids did along with how things were judged at the state level. After that we let Emma go on a few rides which is something that she did not get to do at the Hendricks Fair. Vince and Drew took turns riding with her and she had a blast. Unfortunately I had forgotten to take the camera so no pictures.
One thing that I did think was kind of funny though is that on the front of the program there was a picture of a young girl and a cow. The girl bears a very strong resemblance to Emma.
