When it rains it pours

Drew has been recovering really well from his back surgery. He goes in tomorrow for a check up and we expect that the doctor will probably release him at that time which means no more weight restriction and he can start picking up Emma again. We are very thankful to have that challenge behind us and are grateful for everyone's thoughts and prayers.

Last Friday when we were getting Emma ready for bed I noticed a wet spot in the hallway going to Emma's bedroom but neither or us remembered spilling anything and Emma had not had an accident. By Saturday morning the carpet in the hallway was completely saturated with water. We called a plumber and he came out and told us that we had a busted pipe most likely in the foundation of the house. Because of this we turned the water off to the house except for long enough to take showers. I told Drew that it kind of felt like we were camping in our house. Monday they came out to locate the leak and Tuesday they came and fixed it. To fix it though they had to cut up the carpet so we will have to replace the carpet now as well.

On top of this Drew has started to have some trouble with his car. We are really not sure what is going on but every once in awhile the check engine light comes on and it will not accelerate properly. If he turns if off and back on it normally works fine. One of these days I guess we will have to take it into the shop.

We had a lot of ice the last couple of days and while the city has kept the main roads pretty clear our neighborhood is one big sheet of ice. Yesterday I stayed home because of the plumber being here as well as because of the ice and today they closed the office. Tomorrow is Drew's follow up and I took Friday off work to get ready for Emma's birthday party this weekend so I'm not going to be in the office much this week for better or worse.

This is where the water leak was. The pipe that had to be replaced was right under the wall and I have to say the plumber definitely earned his pay. He said that he was working on 2 hours of sleep because of how long it took him to get home in the bad weather the night before.

This is a picture of our front porch. There is supposed to be a step up but the ice has pretty much made it disappear. And yes that is all ice not snow.

Emma's enjoying her favorite food. Ravioli
